Privacy
MineTexture has no accounts and no ads. Your packs stay in your browser unless you export them, share them in a room, or publish one to the community gallery. The editor also sends a few anonymous usage counts, described below.
Last updated 1 October 2026.
What’s stored on your device
- Your packs are saved in this browser’s storage (IndexedDB) as you work. Delete a pack from the Packs screen, or clear the site’s data in your browser, to remove it.
- Minecraft assets you download (the client jar, asset index, sounds and language files) are cached with the browser’s Cache Storage so they don’t download again.
- Preferences such as toolset, palettes, panel sizes, shortcuts and the name you use in rooms are kept in local storage. The small editor on the home page keeps your drawing there too, and the skin editor keeps your skin there.
None of this leaves your device on its own.
Usage counts
The editor sends a count when you create a pack (with the name of the starter it began from), change a texture (with that texture’s name) or run Auto Animate (with the effect’s name). The request carries the action and that name, nothing about you or your pack. The server adds it to a running total and doesn’t record who sent it.
What your browser downloads, and from where
MineTexture doesn’t bundle or host Minecraft files. When you pick a version, your browser requests them directly:
- Mojang (
piston-meta.mojang.com,piston-data.mojang.com,resources.download.minecraft.net): the version list, the client jar and the asset index. - GitHub (
raw.githubusercontent.com, the public misode/mcmeta repository): sound files and language files, because Mojang’s sound server doesn’t reliably allow browser downloads. The home page also loads a few block textures from here for its demos, and the skin editor loads the default Steve and Alex skins from here.
Like any web request, these services see your IP address and browser details. Their own privacy policies apply.
Rooms
When you create or join a room, your browser connects to other people in the room directly (WebRTC). To find each other, browsers announce the room through public Nostr relays. What goes through the relays is connection information, encrypted with the room code. The pack itself, your edits, your cursor position and the name you enter travel directly between the browsers in the room, encrypted.
Anyone with the room code can join and edit. Only share it with people you trust, and leave the room when you’re done.
Direct connections may use Google’s public STUN server to work out a route between browsers. STUN sees IP addresses, not pack data.
Community gallery
Publishing is optional and needs no account, but you verify an email address first. Only what you publish, and that address, leave your device:
- Your email address: used once, to send you a 6-digit code through Resend, our email provider. MineTexture doesn’t store the address. It keeps only a one-way fingerprint of it with your packs, which can’t be turned back into the address. It’s used to limit how much one address can publish and to block an address that breaks the gallery rules. It’s never shown on your packs.
- What’s stored: the pack
.zipand screenshots you choose, the title, name and description you type, the Minecraft version, the date, and a fingerprint of the removal code you’re given (not the code itself). - Who can see it: everyone. Published packs and screenshots are public and anyone can download them.
- Where: on Vercel’s file storage (Vercel Blob), which also hosts this website.
- Limits and reports: to stop abuse, the server counts publishes and reports per visitor per day using a one-way hash of your IP address that changes every day. Raw IP addresses aren’t stored. Reports keep the reason you pick and any note you type.
- How long: until you remove it, or until it’s removed for breaking the gallery rules. Removing a pack deletes its zip, screenshots, record and reports.
- Removing it: on the gallery page in the browser you published from, or anywhere with the removal code shown after publishing.
Browsing and downloading from the gallery send nothing about you beyond the normal request your browser makes to load the page and files.
Files you open or record
Images, packs, project files and audio you open are read in your browser. Microphone recording starts only when you press Record, and the recording is used only in the sound editor.
